DEATH IS NOT THE END
South Australian Museum Foyer
9th June – 21st July 2006
I was selected to take part in “Inside Sam’s Place” a collaboration between Craft south and the South Australian Museum. Selected artists were allowed access to museum staff and restricted areas, to research collections of interest and create artworks reinterpreting this research.
I researched different methods of extracting fossils from the rocks they are imbedded in and whether the knowledge gained from these is factual or open to interpretation.
In response I created 3mm thick porcelain panels with images laminated inside. Some details were visible on the outsides but the whole story of the panel only became apparent with the addition of back lighting to reveal the internal image.
